Make a PDF searchable (OCR)
A scanned document is only a picture. Text recognition adds its words as an invisible layer you can search, select and copy — the page looks exactly the same.
Your files never leave your browser. Nothing is uploaded, anywhere.

How it works
- Drop in your scanned PDF.
- Pick the document’s language or languages.
- Download the PDF — searchable and copyable.
Questions
- Is my document sent to a server?
- No. Recognition runs in your browser. Only the language models are downloaded, from this site, the first time you pick a language; your browser keeps them after that, and the tool works offline.
- Which language should I pick?
- The document’s own: it sets the alphabet and vocabulary to expect. For a bilingual document, pick both (three at most). A wrong choice shows quickly — accents and letters specific to the language come out wrong.
- What about pages that already have text?
- They are left as they are: only pages without text are read, so the same words are never written twice.
- How long does it take?
- A few seconds per page, depending on your device. “Fast” reads pages at 200 dpi instead of 300 — quicker, slightly less accurate on small print.
