Redact a PDF
Remove names, numbers and passages from a PDF for good: what you redact is gone from the file, not just hidden from view.
Your files never leave your browser. Nothing is uploaded, anywhere.

How it works
- Drop in your PDF.
- Draw the areas to hide, or search for the words and numbers to remove.
- Download the redacted PDF, verified.
Questions
- Isn’t a black box enough?
- No: under a drawn box the text is still in the file — it can be copied, found by searching, or the box deleted. Here every redacted page is replaced by a picture of itself with the areas blacked out: nothing is left underneath.
- What happens to redacted pages?
- They become images, so their text can no longer be selected. Other pages are untouched. Comments and form fields on those pages are removed, and so is the document’s accessibility structure, which could repeat their content.
- How do I know it’s really gone?
- Once the file is made, the tool reads it back: it checks that redacted pages hold no text at all, and that the words you searched for appear nowhere. If any remain, on a page you didn’t redact, it tells you.
- Is my file uploaded anywhere?
- No. Everything happens in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.
